Swine flu also called “H1N1” is the most contagious flu known so far and has been declared as a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO). But it can sure be controlled and the safety of your family is in your own hands. By taking some precautionary measures you can stop it from entering your house.
Wash your hands with a good germicide as often as possible especially before and after going to the loo; working in the kitchen; sneezing and coughing. Also take plenty of rest and while sneezing cover your mouth with a handkerchief. You should explain to your children and make sure that they always maintain a distance of about 3-4 feet from the person who is not well and appears sick.
Children are most susceptible to swine flu so you have to be more careful. The best thing to keep in mind about the germs is that they love people and the crowds, so expect them where ever there are crowds of people. Wearing a mask is never a welcome idea because of the inconvenience and the unfriendly appearance it creates, but it is very necessary in case of Swine flu precaution when you are in a public place or travelling.
Always clean the most touched surfaces of your home. It can be the handles of the doors, refrigerator, handrail of the staircase, bathroom and kitchen sink etc. You should make sure that you visit a doctor in case of symptoms like sneezing, coughing, watery eyes, running nose, sore throat, bluish skin colour, fast breathing, vomiting, headache and fever and always use a mask so that the other members of your family will not be infected. Stay away from your kids and avoid public transportation until you are perfectly all right. You can also spray Lysol in your room as it has high alcoholic content and is a good germicide.
Though the Swine flu vaccine is now available, yet that does not mean that you can totally be dependent on it. It would be sensible to be on your guard. These simple hygienic and vigilant measures can save your family’s life. It’s high time now, let’s all join hands and stop this vampire of Swine Flu taking more lives.
