Managing Morning Stress – Tips for Moms

Almost all mothers feel that time travels the fastest in the mornings. Starting with getting the kids out of their beds until they are dropped off at the daycare, school or whatever, mothers find themselves doing all these in a single breath. All the non-stop activities and running around will lead to extremely high time stress in the mornings. This is true whether one is a working mother or a housewife.

Such stressed mothers need whatever help they can get from wherever possible. This article attempts to provide a few tips of use to them, especially the working mothers. Taking care of these things the previous night just before going to sleep will help a lot.

Ready the breakfast table – Once you have cleared the post-dinner mess, you can take a few minutes and set up the table with bowls, spoons, cups etc for the morning breakfast time.

Refurbish the diaper bag – Check the baby diaper bag that you need to take with you the next morning. Make this a habit. Take a quiet time of 10-15 seconds and think of any other items that you may need to take. Keep the bag fully ready.

Organize the School Bags – Get your school-going children to join you in this. Make this into a team game and ask them to get their backpacks ready. Participate in the job actively. Ensure that the children’s homework, leave requests, books and all other necessary material are in the bag.

Decide on the dresses – Children become very picky with what they want to wear to go out. That can consume a lot of your time and patience. You can do this the previous night when you will have some slower time at hand. Involve your children and decide on the dresses that they will wear the next morning. Once this is done, think of what you want to wear and get the whole lot ready. This preparation allows you time to know if any of the outfit items need to be ironed.

Load your car – There can be multiple bags and small things belonging to you and the children that you will need to take with you in your car. Put in to your car whatever bags you can get fully ready. This is a great time saver and will help you not to miss anything in the last minute.

Try going to bed on time – Even with all these preparatory activities, you will need to keep in mind your bed time. You need give yourself that much deserved rest to your body and mind in order to recoup your energies. Have some good sleep. Regular bed time will keep your bio-clock well-oiled and you can start your next morning on time.

Of course, this does not mean you will be free in the morning. By preparing a few things the previous night, you will be that much better placed in handling the morning time pressures. Try this a few days and you will be amazed by the results.
