The Wondrous Transformation of Your Eight-year Old

One of the most intriguing things is the way the children grow. Did you ever notice what changes your little son has undergone growing into an eight-year old now?
Having learnt so many things over the years, your eight-year old is now seeing a new phase. He has now acquired an outlook that makes him entirely different from what he has been all these years. He is more explosive and exploring than before. He has a strong urge to be independent, self-reliant and likes to apply all his learning to the situations around him.
You will notice that the increase in his height or weight has been as normal as you have witnessed. On an average he has grown taller by 2-3 inches and heavier by about 4-7 pounds in the last year. He looks lankier as he legs have become longer.
One big change is that his chubby appearance has disappeared. His stomach has become flatter. The body frame is slimmer than before. He has started looking like a big boy.
Even his facial contours have changed. This is the age when his baby teeth will be gone and stronger permanent teeth appear in that place. With this, your kid’s jaw line will change. The face too looks thinner too.
This is the age when the physical build and some of the other hereditary features become noticeable. Although genetic factors and their result cannot be helped, this is the crucial time when you can work on his lifestyle. You can help him develop good habits. The prominent ones are his eating and exercising habits which ensure his physical and mental health.
Have fun watching him grow
It is interesting to keep a tab on the growth changes in your boy. Start taking a special photograph of his on his every birthday. Keep a growth diary and record the various activities and achievements done by him. Identify a proper place at home to mark his height on the wall and go back to it periodically. Mark the height along with the date.
Nature is at work right before your eyes. It is only that you need to notice. It is great fun watching how nature is working on your child.
